- Retinoids (Vitamin A derivatives such as Retin-A, tretinoin, isotretinoin)  

- High-concentration salicylic acid  

- Hydroquinone  

- Certain essential oils (e.g., rosemary, sage, clary sage in high doses)  

Safer alternatives include: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, vitamin C, and lactic acid in low concentrations.  

When is the best time to get a facial during pregnancy?  

The second trimester is often considered the most comfortable and safest time for facials, as morning sickness usually subsides and lying flat is easier than in the third trimester. Treatments should be tailored to comfort and safety, avoiding anything that causes overheating, deep pressure, or strong chemical exposure.
